Cut Up Experiments
In the spirit of Burroughs, here are five experiments using interface devices to cut up and mix tracks.
Sonic Postcards
As part of the Sonic Arts Network's "Sonic Postacard" project, I have developed an interactive sonic environment that encourages the listening to the sound of footsteps.
The user is recognised as a central character who is walking along the pavement. They are free to drag 'n drop other characters, as well alter their speed, stride and position (left/right) relative to the user. The result is a playful interactive sonic experience that will hopefully encourage children to listen to their own footsteps as the walk to and from school
Gridbox
This first piece utilises a 3x3 grid to generate sounds. By selecting a shade
from the menu on the right (basically lighter or darker) and then selecting
one of the boxes to drop it into, you can quickly generate a unique audio
experience.
Try adjusting the horizontal and vertical bars for greater virtuosity!
